ROM Assignment
Assignment: In PAIRS you will prepare a SCRAPBOOK of 5 artefacts of cultural interest that you discover during your independent tour of the ROM galleries. For each one you will indicate the:
· (a) exact TIME and exact PLACE (locality, country, continent) in which the artefact originated.
· You will explain the (b) MATERIALS the artefact is made of;
· Indicate the name of the (c) PEOPLE or CULTURAL GROUP who produced it NO DUPLICATIONS!!
· (d) its PURPOSE, and the (e) SYMBOLIC MEANING it conveys.
· Then you will (f) RELATE it to ONE ANTHROPOLOGICAL CONCEPT we have studied so far - or not yet - that you have researched in your textbook e.g. “This artefact exemplifies adaptation because … “
· You must include (g) a SKETCH (or photo) of the artefact. Do NOT include items featured on the ROM website just because they are illustrated in colour and easy to print off!
This assignment will be worth 30 marks and is due on Thurs. Dec. 11th 2014
